Though vocalists and rhythm sections have come and gone since the 1991 release of LRB's breakout CD, Carrying the Tradition, the constant in the group's sound remains original member Sammy Shelor's driving banjo style.

June 11 - 15th 42nd Annual Covered Bridge Celebration in Elizabethton, TN. Experience one of the region's most beautiful areas in historic downtown Elizabethton, TN. Celebrate summer with fun activities for the entire family. Music on the Bridge will feature toe tapping live entertainment including gospel, bluegrass, 50's and 60's beach music and country rock entertainers. Southeastern artisans will display unique and traditional handcrafted arts and crafts. Kids' Island will offer fun filled activities including a stocked river and a free fishing clinic. Plus Saturday evening, the streets of historic downtown will showcase more than 150 classic cars.

June 21st - 22nd 62nd Roan Mountain Rhododendron Festival will be from 10 a.m. till 5 p.m.. The festival is a two-day celebration to memorialize and perpetuate the Rhododendron Gardens, the most gorgeous display of natural beauty on the North American continent. The Festival is held in the Roan Mountain State Park, Roan Mountain, TN. The park is located at the foot of Roan Mountain and features handmade crafts, food and a variety of traditional music, plus an array of old-time folkway demonstrations. The Rhododendron Gardens are located approximately eight miles farther up the mountain.

June 25th - 29th noon to 5 PM Banner Elk Winery, wine tasting and tour.

June 28th Blood Sweat and Gears - Start Location: Valle Crucis 828-264-8226 A demanding cycling route which showcases the mountain communities of Watauga County North Carolina and requires over 13,000 feet of total climbing. Proceeds from the event benefit Funds through the Watauga County Chapter of the American Red Cross.

June 28th Annual Kiddo Fishing Derby in Beech Mountain's annual event is open to all children ages 4 to 12 (children have adult supervision). This event is free and is sponsored by the member businesses that comprise the Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce. Prizes and trophies are awarded for boys and girls who catch the first trout, largest trout, heaviest trout, and the first to catch the limit of 4 trout. Just bring your fishing gear and favorite bait. Registration is at 8 am and the derby begins at 9 am. Call the Beech Mountain Chamber of Commerce at (828) 387-9283.
